Child care provider approval in Western Australia.
The Department of Communities' Education and Care Regulatory Unit approves provider and service applications in Western Australia. Its current application guidance directs applicants to NQA ITS and publishes separate maximum processing periods for provider and service approvals.

ECRU expects approved providers and PMCs to maintain a sound working knowledge of legislation and apply it in day-to-day management.
Keep approvals separate
Provider, service and CCS approval are different decisions.
A National Law provider approval establishes who may be an approved provider. A service approval relates to a particular education and care service. Commonwealth CCS approval concerns administering Child Care Subsidy. One approval does not automatically grant the others.

How long does WA provider approval take?
ECRU publishes a 60-day processing period for provider approval after all necessary documentation is received and the application is validated as complete.
Is a knowledge assessment mandatory for every WA application?
WA law permits ECRU to require an oral or written NQF knowledge assessment, but the public application page does not describe it as automatic for every applicant.
